APOLLO / SOYUZ JULY 15, 1975 - THE FIRST SPACE SHOT THAT I WITNESSED LIVE FROM TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA. + THE APOLLO COUNTDOWN ON 296.8 MHZ AS I RECEIVED IT DIRECTLY WITH MY RADIO GEAR by: Aaron George Bailey |
ABOVE - An Apollo-Soyuz mock-up as it appeared in 1975, during my walk through tour of the giant Vehicle Assembly Building-(VAB). I made these photos on the run, but I lagged behind the group long enough to capture the clear shot of the Soyuz, as it was of special interest to me. Unfortunately, the model was without the long HF antennas. The original photos were made with a cheap box camera. They were small, hopelessly dark and void of detail until I digitally processed them through Paint-Shop-Pro with amazing results. |
The view from my motel room. Note- Bird Watchers Park,,, rocket birds, that is. The above is a composite, the best of three different photos. I remember Bird Watchers Park from the TV coverage of the first Mercury flights. For a young boy, how exciting those days were. |
